Who do you help?
Hi! My name is Jen Goldman and I work with clients ranging from birth to teen aged children along with their families! I believe working together as a team provides the best outcome for the child and their families. I love to problem solve and target specific areas where the child struggles or there is a communication breakdown to help the child gain more confidence and independence at home, school and with their friends. I have learned so much from the children I’ve worked with at Communiverse as well as my experience in inpatient and outpatient hospitals and the schools. I feel that meeting the child where they are is a helpful first step in establishing trust and further growth in therapy sessions. I work with children with expressive, receptive and pragmatic language disorders, Autism, ADHD, executive functioning disorders, Central Auditory Processing Disorders, Apraxia and feeding disorders (infant feeding, picky eating). I am drawn to pediatrics because of the sparkle in each child’s eye for something they enjoy or motivates them! I treat in my sessions with both my brain and my heart. I believe that helping each child with individual needs achieve each milestone toward their goals is so meaningful and important!
How do you work?
My approach focuses on meeting children where they are and creating individualized therapy that supports their unique strengths and needs. I work closely with families to help children develop the tools they need to communicate, learn, and participate in activities and routines at home. I believe that even the smallest change can make a meaningful difference in a child’s life. I strive to provide consistent encouragement and positive feedback to both the child and their family, highlighting what is working and making sure that therapy is dynamic. Children change constantly and therapy plans should as well to meet different needs or change direction as needed.
My goal is to create a supportive and empowering environment where children feel successful, families feel supported, and progress is celebrated. The most important part of therapy, no matter the goal is: Working Together. Together we work toward building the confidence and skills children need to actively participate in their own lives!
